What was the first album you bought with your own money? The first album I ever bought was Abbey Road. I've actually been
listening to it a lot this past year in my car and on vinyl. It
has definitely remained one of my favorite albums. I Want You into Here
Comes the sun gets me every time.
What comes first – music or lyrics? Then what happens? Usually a guitar progression or some sort of melody
comes first, then I start mumbling words and ideas until lyrics start
forming. I've heard Jeff Tweedy describe writing songs as "transcribing
grunts" and I think thats a good way of describing it- just going for it
and letting it happen naturally. Lately though, I've been prewriting
lyrics a bit more and it's a really good feeling when the musical ideas
come together.
What’s the one thing that listeners would never guess about you? I've been known to enjoy covering a little tune
known as "Say My Name" by Destiny's Child if the properly ridiculous
situation presents itself.
If your fans had to write a sentence or two to describe your music, what would they write? I would hope
they would say that my music takes them somewhere, whether it inspires a
certain mood or they relate to it in a particular way. If it
reaches them on any level, I'm stoked.
