No shows this week, friends... just some sweeeeet time off hanging out with loved ones. We'll resume the fun on January 3rd, check the calendar at ListenLocalsd.com for when, where and who or to find an available showcase spot to reserve. Looking forward to hearing you play in the new year!
I've been thinking a lot about my first Christmas in San Diego, it was 1999. I had just arrived the month before and was staying in an apartment recently vacated by a friend. She had left a bed, a computer, some food in the fridge and the rent was paid through that month. I had NO money, a poor running van, two cats and a month to get it all together... find a job, a place to live and a band to rock with. I didn't have money to make it home that year so I spent Christmas alone, it was weird but not too sad. That was a magical and semi scary time in my life, moving to a new place while still trying to find "my place". I love San Diego and the amazing people I met along the way who have helped make my story such a happy and music-filled one.
If you're among the folks who can't make it home or won't be with your loved ones on Christmas, you're not alone even though it feels like it. Here's a little song by my buddy Christopher Dallman to lift your spirits. Keep the faith and keep rocking in the free world. Cathryn xo
