i believe it was Bob Marleys Greatest hits when i was either 9 or 10. so funny looking back on that. i remember seeing the older kids in the sixth grade wearing bob shirts so i thought he had to be good. i bought the cd expecting rock. something along the lines of acdc or metallica. after i popped it in the cd player, i was quickly bumbed out and regretted buying the cd with my own money. now, of course, im obsessed with bob.
What comes first – music or lyrics? Then what happens?
When i write music, i sit down with guitar in lap and start to fiddle. i let my mood come through with the chords i choose to organize in the moment. music comes before lyrics. the guitar is more of a tool i use to lay down a foundation before i really build the words and melody, which is where i find all of my passion sitting in.
What’s the one thing that listeners would never guess about you?
im obsessed with my health and my yoga practice. i wouldnt say im a health freak because i still indulge once in a while. still consistently, definitely holding hands with my music, health is what drives me.
If your fans had to write a sentence or two to describe your music, what would they write?
hmmm...i dont usually like to project what the listeners interperet because i believe everyone has there own interperation of every word or different melody they hear. i would love to hear them say that my music and words uplift and inspire them to keep on keepin on in an optomistic way.
