Local venue needs YOUR music! My buddy Derek from REDS ESPRESSO GALLERYin Point Loma has this to say: "We are a humble fair-trade coffee roaster, restaurant, gallery, wine/beer bar and music venue looking to exclusively play local, independent music at our location at 1017 Rosecrans St. As a food service establishment, our mission is to serve the best food and beverage with a lot of love. As a place for cultural enrichment, we search to cultivate local artistry by providing gallery space for local artwork, hosting exhibit openings for our artists and now by committing to exclusively play local music. Please email us your music and information so that when our customers hear something they like we can check our soon-to-be-extensive music library and let them know who you are. Want to host a listening party or album release? We'll help you out! Email us at coffee4thepeople@gmail.comwith your music and information. PLAY LOCAL! Tweet us @redscoffee and find us on facebook! www.sexybeans.com"
SOUND ADVICE. This is a new and ongoing series in my blog featuring words of wisdom from some of San Diego's sound engineers. It is designed to educate YOU the musician while giving our sound guys a way to vent. This week's advice comes from comedian Andrew Deans who runs sound for us at Winstons every Thursday. Andrew says: "Always tell the sound guy what (instruments/equipment) you have. Don't be all mysterious and start giving info after cords have been plugged in. Also, Bring your own guitar cord. The club has "left behind" cords, which may or may not be good. You have control, make it happen." Thanks Andrew. It's amazing how many artists don't know that they need to bring their own instrument cable... sheesh. Now we know!
The Acoustic Alliance was awesome last night. Huge thanks to all the artists and their fans for making it such a magical night. Photos and videos coming soon!
