"Living the Dream in 2015". I think that's Jake Najor's credo for the new year and I like it.
Much better than "2014, lamest year I've ever seen". lol. I don't mean to be ungrateful but I'm glad to see it go. The pages of my calendar take me on a roller coaster of emotional unrest. It occurs to me that if I didn't have my amazing husband I wouldn't make it through this business of life.
While they're both, thankfully, healthy and fighting their way back (one physically, one mentally), both of our fathers had strokes 2 months apart at the beginning of this year. The frailty of life and importance of family looms large, lately. Then there was that nasty situation with the radio station a few months back which left me re evaluating pretty much everything in regards to my chosen path. And, again this year, a few more amazing and important people join those we only get to remember.
*sigh* There were some positive things this year, too, though. Listen Local had the busiest live event summer in 11 years of rocking San Diego. I was able to employ some of my favorite friends who helped make that happen (Brandy, Kibria, Nancy, Lindsay, Jessica, Roni Lee...you chicks are THE BEST and I hope you know how much I appreciate you all!). I was part of the MOST LOVING AND UNIQUE music scene at The Parkway Bar and through them discovered my inner mixed media artist. Listen Local Radio became a thing and I got to wake up everyday to Jon Edwards and our hilarious fur family. Redeeming qualities, 2014.
I don't know what 2015's version of life has in store for me, my family or Listen Local Radio. Seems more important than ever to live in the moment, count blessings, DO the things you dream of and don't put anything off. All my life I've let my heart and the universe guide me but lately my guts are all like "dude, I dunno." I think it's time for action.
This year I want to give more, control less, let go of "stuff" and get healthy. I want real friendships and outings under the open sky. I want to sing again. Those are my resolutions, my wish list, my promises to myself. I'm looking forward to 2015.
Here's to all of YOU who will be out there, all up in it with me this year. See you then. xo
