Jeff Berkeley of Citizen Band has a vast taste in music. But he’s also got a great sense of humor. You know those Dos XX’s commercials for “The most interesting man in the world”? Well seeing as I consider Dos XX one of my favorite beers, I got a good first impression visiting the band’s website as I came across a parody of it (listen to it here).
"Folks always say Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Stones, The Band, Wilco, Whiskey Town, Steve Earl, Lucinda Williams, Cracker, The Grateful Dead. I'm fine with that. If we make em feel like those other band then I'm cool with that all day long!"
Can you share a little interesting tid bit on each of your band members?
"Marcia is the perfect bass player for my songs. She is the mortar that sticks us all together. Her round, warm sound eases the soul and she sings like a bird. It's all about the song with her. No flash unless it's what's called for. That's the thing about bass. Usually the most simple parts are the best. Oh... and she sings really well, writes songs and is smart and beautiful!Mike is a member of the great band Deadline Friday as well as Citizen Band. That's where I saw him first. He's tasteful in all the right ways as a player. He's got chops. He also sings really well and writes great songs!
As well as being a part of Citizen Band, Jeff is a producer and has become well versed in helping artists focus their energy and discovering what it is they want to be. Read more about Berkeley Sound here.
